TP-Link Router Login and Setup
Access your TP-Link admin panel at tplinkwifi.net or 192.168.1.1. Older models use admin/admin. New Archer routers require a password you set on first login. Covers Archer, Deco mesh, and the Tether app.
TP-Link Admin Panel Overview
TP-Link routers use tplinkwifi.net as their local management hostname. The address resolves to the router IP (192.168.1.1 on most models, 192.168.0.1 on some) when you are connected to the home network. If the hostname fails - often because custom DNS is set on your device - the IP address always works as a direct fallback.
Since about 2018, new Archer models require you to set a custom admin password during the initial setup wizard rather than shipping with a pre-configured default. This is a security improvement over the older admin/admin default. If you bought a new Archer and are logging in for the first time, the browser will prompt you to create a password before you can access the settings panel.
tplinkwifi.net or 192.168.1.1. Some older models and DSL units use 192.168.0.1.
Older models: admin/admin. New Archer (2018+): no preset password, set on first login.
Free iOS and Android app for managing Archer routers locally and remotely. No account required for local use.
Deco systems are managed entirely through the Deco app. No browser admin panel is available on Deco devices.
How to Log In
Connect via Wi-Fi (default SSID on the label) or Ethernet into any LAN port. You can also plug directly into the WAN port from a modem for initial setup.
Type http://tplinkwifi.net in a browser. If that fails (custom DNS), use http://192.168.1.1. Always use http://, not https://.
Archer AX/XE (Wi-Fi 6/6E, 2020 onwards): No default password - you created one during setup. Archer AC/A (older models): admin / admin. TL-WR series (budget): admin / admin.
The Basic page shows quick Wi-Fi and internet settings. Click Advanced at the top to access port forwarding, DNS, QoS, parental controls (HomeCare), and firmware updates.
TP-Link Archer AX models (2020+) have no preset admin password. If you skipped the setup wizard or forgot the password you created, a factory reset is required to reach the password-creation screen again.

Troubleshooting
Custom DNS on your device blocks local hostname resolution. Type http://192.168.1.1 directly. If that also fails, run ipconfig on Windows to find your actual Default Gateway.
Hold the reset button 5 seconds until the power LED flashes. The router returns to factory state and you can set a new password on the next login. All your Wi-Fi and configuration settings will need to be reconfigured.
Some older models have blank username and admin as the password, not admin/admin. Try leaving the username field empty. Also try blank for both fields on some ISP-provided TP-Link units.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does TP-Link require a cloud account?
No. The full browser panel at tplinkwifi.net works without any account. A TP-Link ID is only needed for remote management outside your home or for HomeCare features. Local management works completely offline.
What is TP-Link HomeCare?
HomeCare is TP-Link's free lifetime security suite powered by Trend Micro on Archer routers. It provides antivirus scanning at the network level, intrusion prevention, and parental controls with content filtering. No subscription is needed - it is included at no cost on supported routers.
Can I use a TP-Link router as an access point?
Yes. Log in and go to Advanced > Operation Mode > Access Point Mode. This disables DHCP and NAT on the TP-Link, turning it into a Wi-Fi extension point that connects to your main router via Ethernet. This avoids double-NAT issues and is the recommended way to add Wi-Fi coverage to an existing network.
