192.168.0.1 - Router Login and Admin Panel Guide
The default gateway for D-Link, Netgear, and Spectrum routers. Enter 192.168.0.1 in your browser to reach the admin panel. D-Link default: username admin, password blank.
What Is 192.168.0.1?
192.168.0.1 is a private IPv4 gateway address used by many home routers as their default admin interface. It belongs to the 192.168.0.0/24 private subnet defined by RFC 1918. D-Link adopted it as their standard default decades ago, and Netgear, Spectrum, and several ISP-supplied routers also use it.
When you type 192.168.0.1 into a browser on a device connected to your home network you reach the router admin panel - the control centre for Wi-Fi settings, passwords, port forwarding, parental controls, and firmware updates.
D-Link (primary), Netgear (many models), Spectrum-provided routers (Sagemcom, Askey), and AT&T-supplied gateways.
Private address, not reachable from the internet. You must be on the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection to access it.
Both are equally common gateways. Your router uses one or the other. Check with ipconfig on Windows or ip route on Mac/Linux.
D-Link ships most routers with username admin and a blank (empty) password. Leave the password field empty and click Login.
How to Log In to 192.168.0.1
Connect via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable to any LAN port. Ensure you are not on mobile data.
Type http://192.168.0.1 with the http:// prefix. D-Link, Netgear, and Spectrum routers use 192.168.0.1 - not 192.168.1.1.
D-Link: admin / blank (empty). Netgear: admin / password. Spectrum (Sagemcom): admin / admin. Check the device label if these fail.
If this is your first login, set a strong admin password and a new Wi-Fi password before saving.
D-Link blank password tip: When the login prompt appears, type admin in the Username field and leave the Password field completely empty - do not type anything, not even a space. Then click Login or press Enter.
Default Credentials
Factory-set logins for routers that use 192.168.0.1. Always check the sticker on your specific device first.
| Brand | Username | Password |
|---|---|---|
| D-Link | admin | blank (empty) |
| Netgear | admin | password |
| TP-Link | admin | admin |
| Spectrum (Sagemcom) | admin | admin |
| Huawei | admin | admin |
| Tenda | admin | blank |
| Zyxel | admin | 1234 |
| Comtrend | admin | admin |
If the default credentials do not work, check the sticker on the router - ISPs sometimes set custom credentials before shipping devices. If you changed the password and forgot it, a factory reset restores the defaults.
Troubleshooting When 192.168.0.1 Does Not Work
On Windows open Command Prompt and type ipconfig. Look for Default Gateway under your active adapter. On Mac/Linux open Terminal and type ip route show default. If it shows 192.168.1.1, use that address instead.
Type http://192.168.0.1 including the http:// prefix. Modern browsers try to upgrade to HTTPS which fails for router admin panels. The prefix prevents that.
VPNs block local address access. Disconnect the VPN completely. Then open an incognito window and try http://192.168.0.1 again.
Plug a cable from your laptop directly into a yellow LAN port on the router. Wired connections are more reliable for admin access during troubleshooting.
Unplug the power cable, wait 30 seconds, plug back in. Allow 90 seconds for a full boot before trying again.
Hold the reset pinhole button for 10 seconds with the router powered on. All settings restore to factory defaults including the default credentials.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does D-Link use a blank password by default?
D-Link ships most home routers with no admin password to simplify first-time setup. This means anyone connected to your Wi-Fi can open 192.168.0.1 and change router settings without any credentials. The very first thing you should do after your first login is go to Maintenance or Administration and set a strong admin password.
Can 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 both exist on the same network?
They operate on different subnets so technically they can coexist, but on a standard home network you should only have one default gateway. If you have two routers, put the second one in Access Point mode to avoid double-NAT and routing conflicts.
I typed 192.168.o.1 with a letter O instead of zero - why doesn't it work?
IP addresses only contain the number zero, not the letter O. Typing 192.168.o.1 causes the browser to treat it as a search query. Always use 192.168.0.1 with the digit zero in every position.
Can I change 192.168.0.1 to a different gateway IP?
Yes. Log in, go to Network Settings or LAN, and change the IP address. The router reboots and you must use the new IP for future admin access. Keep a note of whatever you change it to.
