D-Link Router Login and Setup
Access your D-Link admin panel at dlinkrouter.local or 192.168.0.1. Username is admin. The password field is blank on most older models - just press Enter. Newer models print a unique password on the label.
D-Link Admin Panel Overview
D-Link routers have used 192.168.0.1 as their default gateway for decades. It is the most consistent thing about D-Link's product line - regardless of whether you have a DIR-615 from 2009 or a current EAGLE PRO AI model, the admin panel lives at that same address. D-Link also provides the hostname dlinkrouter.local, which resolves to the router IP when you are on the same network.
The blank default password on older D-Link routers is a significant security gap. Anyone on your Wi-Fi network can type 192.168.0.1 into a browser and immediately access full router settings without any credentials. Setting an admin password is the single most important thing to do after your first login.
dlinkrouter.local or 192.168.0.1. DSL models may also use 192.168.1.1 - check the label.
Username: admin. Password: blank (leave empty). Newer EAGLE PRO AI models have a unique label password.
Free cloud management app. Requires linking the router to a free mydlink account. Optional for local access.
Current premium D-Link line with AI-driven channel improve and McAfee security integration.
How to Log In
Connect via Wi-Fi (default SSID on label: usually dlink-XXXXXX) or Ethernet into any LAN port.
Type http://dlinkrouter.local in a browser. If it fails, use http://192.168.0.1. D-Link uses 192.168.0.1, not 192.168.1.1.
Username: admin. Password: leave blank (factory default - no password set). If a password was previously set, check the router label. Some newer D-Link models print a unique password on the label.
New D-Link routers launch an Internet Connection Setup Wizard. It detects your WAN type (DHCP for cable, PPPoE for DSL) and walks through Wi-Fi setup. You will be asked to set an admin password during this process.
Some D-Link routers shipped after 2023 print a unique admin password on the label rather than using a blank default. Always check the sticker before attempting login.

Troubleshooting
Newer EAGLE PRO AI and DIR-X models have a unique password on the bottom label - this replaces the blank default. Look for two separate passwords on the label: one for Wi-Fi and a separate one for the admin panel.
The hostname uses mDNS which can fail if your device has custom DNS configured. Use http://192.168.0.1 directly instead. Run ipconfig to confirm this is your Default Gateway.
This usually means the router is not connected to the internet (WAN problem), not an admin access issue. Check that the cable from your modem is in the blue WAN port, not a yellow LAN port. Power cycle both the modem and router.
Hold the reset pinhole button 10 seconds with the router powered on until the power LED blinks. All settings restore to factory defaults including the blank password (or unique label password on newer models).

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does D-Link ship routers with no password?
D-Link historically shipped routers with a blank admin password to make first-time setup easier without requiring users to look up factory credentials. The downside is that anyone on the network can access the admin panel immediately. Newer D-Link models corrected this by printing a unique password on each unit's label.
What is EAGLE PRO AI?
EAGLE PRO AI is D-Link's current premium home router line. These routers use machine learning to automatically improve channel selection, band steering, and traffic prioritization based on real usage patterns. They include McAfee-powered parental controls and integrate with the mydlink app. Models include the R32 (AX3200), R15 (AX1500), and M32 mesh node.
Does mydlink require a cloud account?
The mydlink app requires a free account registration to function. A cloud account is not needed for local browser access at 192.168.0.1, which works without any registration. Only use the app if you want remote management from outside your home network.
