How to Log In to Your Tenda Router

1
Connect to the Tenda Wi-Fi

Connect your device to the Tenda router's default Wi-Fi network. The default SSID is printed on the label on the base of the router — usually in the format Tenda_XXXXXX. You can also connect via Ethernet cable to any LAN port.

2
Open the admin panel

In a browser, navigate to http://192.168.0.1 or http://tendawifi.com. Always include http:// to force the browser to navigate rather than search. The setup page opens immediately without requiring credentials on a fresh device.

3
Login with blank password

Most Tenda routers have no default admin password. If prompted, enter admin as the username and leave the password field empty. Click Login or Submit. The router then walks you through the initial setup wizard.

4
Set a password during setup

The setup wizard requires you to set a new admin login password before configuring internet and Wi-Fi. Choose a strong password — at least 8 characters mixing letters and numbers — and note it down. There is no password recovery mechanism: a forgotten password requires a factory reset.

Wi-Fi and Basic Settings

After logging in, the Tenda dashboard shows Quick Setup for internet connection type and Wi-Fi name/password. Navigate to Wireless Settings → Basic to change SSID and wireless password. Set security to WPA2-PSK or WPA3 for best protection.

For separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band control, go to Advanced → Wireless. Assigning different names to each band gives you manual control over which devices connect to which frequency. Read more in our 2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz guide.

Troubleshooting

1
tendawifi.com not loading

Ensure you type http://tendawifi.com with the http:// prefix. Without it, the browser treats it as a search query. If the hostname fails, use the IP address 192.168.0.1 instead — both address the same admin panel.

2
Forgotten admin password

Tenda routers have no password recovery feature. Press and hold the Reset button on the back of the router for 8-10 seconds. The lights will flash and the router restores factory defaults including the blank password. You will need to reconfigure internet and Wi-Fi settings.

3
Internet not connecting after setup

In Quick Setup, ensure the WAN connection type matches your ISP — most home connections use DHCP (Dynamic IP). PPPoE connections require a username and password from your ISP. Check Advanced → WAN Settings if Quick Setup does not detect the connection type automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Tenda a good router brand?

Tenda routers are reliable for basic home use and offer solid value at their price point. Performance is generally good for standard browsing, streaming, and gaming in small to medium-sized homes. They lack some advanced features found on premium brands (Asus, Netgear) such as VPN servers, full traffic inspection, or enterprise-grade QoS. For most households wanting reliable Wi-Fi without complexity, Tenda is a solid choice.

Does Tenda push firmware updates automatically?

Some newer Tenda models support automatic firmware updates. In the admin panel, check Advanced → System → System Upgrade for an auto-update toggle. On older models, updates are manual only: download the firmware from Tenda's support site and upload via the System Upgrade page. Check for updates every few months.
