Buffalo AirStation Router Login and Setup Guide
Buffalo routers use the unusual address 192.168.11.1 as the default gateway, not 192.168.1.1. Default login: admin / password. Some Buffalo models ship with DD-WRT pre-installed.
About Buffalo AirStation
Buffalo Technology is a Japanese manufacturer known for its AirStation Wi-Fi routers and LinkStation/TeraStation NAS devices. Their routers are popular in Japan, parts of Asia, and among enthusiasts globally for one distinctive reason: certain Buffalo models ship with DD-WRT firmware pre-installed, giving power users full open-source router capabilities out of the box.
Buffalo uses 192.168.11.1 as the default gateway - notable because it differs from the 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 used by most other brands. This deliberate choice avoids address conflicts when connecting a Buffalo router behind another router.
Official Buffalo support: Buffalo Support
WSR-3200AX4S, WSR-6000AX8 - current Buffalo Wi-Fi 6 routers. AirStation firmware. Admin at 192.168.11.1.
WZR-1750DHP, WZR-600DHP2 - older models that shipped with DD-WRT. Access via 192.168.11.1 using standard DD-WRT interface.
LinkStation and TeraStation are NAS devices, not routers. Accessible via Buffalo NAS Navigator or 192.168.11.x addresses assigned by DHCP.
How to Log In
Connect via Wi-Fi (SSID on device label) or Ethernet.
Buffalo uses 192.168.11.1 as the default. Type http://192.168.11.1 in a browser. 192.168.1.1 will not work on a factory-default Buffalo router.
Username: admin. Password: password. On DD-WRT pre-installed models, the first boot redirects you to set a new password before the panel opens.

Troubleshooting
Buffalo uses 192.168.11.1, not 192.168.1.1. Correct address: http://192.168.11.1.
Press and hold the Reset button for 3-5 seconds. This restores the admin/password factory default.
Hold Reset during power-on for TFTP recovery mode. Connect to LAN port 1 and push firmware via TFTP to 192.168.11.1.

FAQ
Can I install DD-WRT on a Buffalo router that did not come with it?
Yes, on many models. Buffalo's AirStation firmware allows DD-WRT flashing via the admin panel on supported hardware - typically under Administration → Firmware Update. Upload the DD-WRT factory image for your specific model. Check the DD-WRT router database (dd-wrt.com) before purchasing if DD-WRT support is important to you, as not every Buffalo model has a verified working build.
