Motorola Networking Products
The Motorola networking brand is licensed to ARRIS Group (now CommScope) for cable modems and to Minim for Wi-Fi routers. These are separate companies - a Motorola MB8600 modem and a Motorola MR2600 router are made by different manufacturers using the same brand name.
DOCSIS 3.1 cable modems. Modem diagnostics at 192.168.100.1. No router functionality - must be paired with a separate router.
Combined cable modem + Wi-Fi router. Admin at 192.168.0.1. Default login: admin / motorola.
Standalone Wi-Fi routers. Admin at 192.168.0.1. Default login: admin / password.
How to Log In
Check the model number on the label. MB/SB = cable modem only. MG = modem-router combo. MR = standalone router. Pure modems do not have a router admin panel - only a diagnostics page at 192.168.100.1.
For modem-routers (MG series): connect to Wi-Fi and go to http://192.168.0.1. For pure modems (MB series): connect directly via Ethernet and go to http://192.168.100.1 for the DOCSIS diagnostics page.
MG modem-routers: admin / motorola. MR standalone routers: admin / password. Some newer units use a unique password printed on the device label.

Troubleshooting
The Motorola MB8600 is a pure cable modem - no router functionality. It does not have an admin panel at 192.168.0.1. Connect a router to it and access the router's admin panel. The modem diagnostics are at http://192.168.100.1.
Cable ISPs often need to provision a new modem MAC address. After connecting the Motorola modem, call your ISP with the modem's MAC address (on the label) and ask them to activate it. This usually takes 5-10 minutes.
Open 192.168.100.1 and check downstream power (should be -7 to +7 dBmV) and upstream power (38-48 dBmV). Values outside this range indicate a coax cable or splitter issue - contact your ISP for a line check.

FAQ
My Motorola modem diagnostics show uncorrectable errors - is this normal?
The DOCSIS diagnostics page at 192.168.100.1 shows channel signal levels, SNR (signal-to-noise ratio), and codeword error counts. A small number of correctable codeword errors per day is normal. Uncorrectable errors above a few hundred per day, or upstream power levels outside 38-48 dBmV, indicate line signal quality issues - typically a splitter, bad coax connection, or distance from the node. Contact your cable ISP to run a signal check or send a technician.
